Time to Hit the Books! How Lifelong Learning Just Got Easier...

A few weeks ago when I launched Step Up’s new Women’s Self-Leadership Toolkit, I mentioned a website devoted to the continuation of education called Coursera. I stumbled upon this fabulous find when I was looking for an online course in Positive Psychology. I quickly discovered that Coursera offers high quality, university-level online classes called Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC).

What’s more, the array of possibilities is mind-blowing!

Leadership? Check. Nursing? Check. Business? Check. Psychology? Check. Literature? Check. Diet and exercise? Check. All of this, and much much more, is offered at your convenience through this wonderful online format, making the pursuit of self-cultivation and personal growth easily accessible!

What’s more, these fabulous courses are offered by world-renowned specialists. Over fifty elite universities have joined forces with Coursera to offer adults a high quality and affordable alternative education (courses range from $40 to $60). Furthermore, each course runs approximately 5 to 8 weeks and is totally self-directed, meaning you have full control of when you work and submit your assignments.

Lastly, if you opt for the certificate route (by submitting the required assignments) you will receive official documentation from the university offering the course that you have successfully completed the requirements of the program. These certificates can then be added to your resume or LinkedIn profile. This is a fabulous way to keep your skills honed and your mind sharp! Lifelong learning just got so much easier thanks to Coursera!
